Honorifics

At the 2014 Festival launch on 26 September 2008 the RW Provincial Grand Master Michael Robin Bailey announced the Province's wholehearted support for The Freemasons’ Grand Charity and pledged the Province’s commitment to achieving the target of £3 million.

In addition to the on-going Grand Charity awards, an honorific system is being implemented within the Province of East Kent for the 2014 Festival so that lodges, chapters and individuals may demonstrate their support for the Festival.

Individual honorific awards will be available whereby brethren and non-masons will be designated Stewards, Vice-Patrons, Patrons and Grand Patrons of the 2014 Festival and will take the form of a jewel, which may be purchased once a brother is credited with the rank of Steward. The status of Vice-Patron, Patron and Grand Patron will be signified by bars, which will be issued free of charge to qualifying brethren and non-masons. The jewel may be worn at lodge meetings within the Province and should be worn with pride as it is considered a sign of commitment to charitable giving in general and, in particular, to the 2014 Festival.

Awards to Individuals – Qualification amounts for 2014 Festival jewels & bars

  Masons  Non-Masons
Steward £150 £75
Vice-Patron £300 £150
Patron £600 £300
Grand Patron £1200 £600

The above amounts include Gift Aid, where appropriate. Awards will be made based on actual donations received, not future promises.

The jewel, which has been approved by Grand Lodge, will be available from January at a cost of £15.00 on application, via the Charity Steward of your lodge. Bars will be issued free, as appropriate. A Ladies’ jewel will be available in due course. The Application Form may be downloaded.

Awards to Lodges and Chapters.

Awards to Lodges and Chapters will also be made in order to thank those who make a particular effort to support the Festival. These will be calculated as an average contribution per subscribing member with an alternative total sum, shown below. The awards will be based on whichever qualifying sum is reached first. The number of members used in the calculation will be that shown in the 2008-09 Freemasons’ Manual for East Kent.
