THE PROVINCIAL GRAND MASTER’S CHARITY
Annual Report
There were no demands on the Provincial Grand Master's Charity during
the year and at 31 March 2007 the balance in the fund had increased to
£111,033. By their very nature emergencies are unpredictable and the
Provincial Grand Master's Charity remains ready to offer support and
assistance when they do occur. The Trustees are grateful for the
continuing and generous contributions from the Brethren of the Province
in their support for the aims of the Charity. As part of the general
review of the Charities run by the Province the way in which this Fund
is used will be the subject of review during 2007/08.
During the year ended 31 March 2007 a new Chairman, Secretary and
Treasurer were appointed for the Charity, reflecting changes in the East
Kent Provincial Charities Association. Two of the Trustees retired, the
Chairman, W. Bro. Noel Grout and R.W. Bro. Russell Race. Two new
Trustees were appointed, W. Bro.’s Pat Thomas and Tony Denne.
It would be inappropriate to end this report without paying tribute to
the retiring Chairman, W. Bro Noel Grout. W. Bro Grout has been involved
with the Charity since its creation, becoming the first Chairman in 1993
and continuing in that role until 2006. Throughout the thirteen years in
which he was Chairman he played an essential part in the creation and
development of the Charity. The retiring Secretary, W. Bro Hugh Pierce,
began his involvement with the Charity in 1999 and he too has
contributed greatly to the success of its development.
Finally, thanks must be extended to the "office team" - W. Bro.’s Pat
Flanagan, Keith Pavey and Barrie Harber - who manage the affairs of the
Provincial Grand Master's Charity on a day-to-day basis.
P.J. Thomas
Chairman
