There were some funny goings-on over at the King’s Hall, Herne Bay, on 6th and
7th December. Oh no there wasn’t – Oh yes there was! But it raised over £2000
for charity!

Members of the East Kent Province took part in the pantomime “Jack and The
Beanstalk” and this proved to be a resounding success and a lot of fun for
audience and cast alike.

Taking the part of Dame Trott (alias Aloe Vera) Roger
Odd had more changes of costume than the Royal Ballet, and proved his not
insignificant acting and comedy skills. Roger O’Brien as Jack showed his
bovine management expertise by looking after the pantomime cow (Colin
Tunbridge and Ron Ball).

Trudi Button, as the Princess, brought some glamour
to the show, and the King and “Spiv” were well presented by Ralph Apperley and
Peter McIntyre respectively. The “Old Fairy” was convincingly played by Clive
(“Hello Mortals”!) Manuel and then there were those “men in tights” -John
Grumbridge, Malcolm Brooks, Charles Boxer and Brian Powell, well what can one
say!

Car Insurance will never be the same again after the appearance of
“Sheila’s Wheels” (John Bonomy, Doug Bonomy, Stuart Bonomy and Peter Dover)
all in delightful little pink numbers!! The Craig Bartley and Jackie Lynn
Dancers, from Chatham, added youth and excellence!
Behind the scenes, the whole show was produced by Wes Holland who did a
wonderful job of keeping all the cast as well-behaved as was possible, and he
was ably assisted by Daniel Davies (sound/lighting), Brian Meeres (Stage
Hand), Sarah Cooper (Stage Director), Janice Hollands, Janet Davies and Sam
Fairbairns (who all put together the costumes and make-up).
On a more serious note, all proceeds of the two performances went towards the
2014 Freemasons’ Grand Charity 2014 Festival and at time of going to press
over £2,000 was raised.
Well done all you thespians and we look forward to your next production!
